Surge Racing is a dedicated and passionate team of young engineers, innovators and entrepreneurs studying in the Heritage Private School and participating in the Stem racing Competition. But what exactly is Stem racing? The Stem racing Competition is a STEM project where by creating their own version of an F1 team, students work together in groups of 3-6. Assigning roles and responsibilities, each individual takes ownership of a specific area, such as designing the car, manufacturing it, testing it, branding it, or becoming the Team Manager and ensuring all work is done in the proper timeframes. It is a challenge rooted in STEM, but includes so much more, Stem racing provides students with an insight into possible future career choices and subject areas – from marketing and sponsorship to financial management, as well as teaching technical skills such as how to use CAD software and CNC machines.
